going to hell in a leather jacket

I wish I could speak on this subject from the standpoint of someone who owns and rides a motorcycle, but unfortunately I do not. After children are raised, I'm too old for stone-washed jeans, fringe bras and spandex leather (never), and my father is senile. It will happen. Until then, I will just dress like a biker occasionally...no, frequently, and keep my windows on my car rolled down in attempt to feel like a free rebel leaving a trail of dust down desert road. Like I said, a dream. Luckily, biker chic is very much in right now and all this can be done without a leather ponytail cover. Wait...those could maybe, possibly be made cool.

I know I'm getting ahead of the seasons, but I'm loving Diane von Furstenburg's spring collection at fashion week. Exceptional layering of mix-matched prints and colors.

ralph lauren's colorado dream ranch

via: architectural digest, photography by gilles de chabaneix

You would find me in one of the three teepee guest houses smoking a peace pipe, doing a ritualistic dance wearing leather fringe and a feather headpiece having a pow wow. Ralph Lauren and his wife Ricky retreat to their Colorado ranch located in the San Juan mountains where they can stay inspired and surround themselves with nature, all 16,000 acres of it. Decked in RL Home leather armchairs, custom artwork, ancient Indian relics, navajo rugs and blankets and of course, antlers, their built from scratch, twenty year work in progress is an inspiring reflection of the couples sense of style. I'm in love. Visit our ETSY shop to see some of our cowboy inspired pieces.

when i'm with you i have fun

Saw Best Coast play last night at Pilot Light. Sends shivers. I want to be one dancing in this video.

The world is lazy
but you and me
we're just crazy

So when I'm with you, I have fun
Yeah when I'm with you, I have fun

The world is lazy
but you and me
We're just crazy

So when I'm with you, I have fun
Yeah when I'm with you, I have fun

Ever since I was a little girl
My mama always told me
there'd be boys like you

So when I'm with you, I have fun
Yeah when I'm with you, I have fun

I hate sleeping alone

if that was that and this was this

These are two photo projects that I am so in love with. Such simple concepts that are oh so delightful. If there was a five thousand page book full I would flip pages all day. In the first series above, Rob Matthews and Tom Edwards are doing just the reverse of what still life painters do every day. Instead of illustrating something tangible, these geniuses are recreating an illustration and photographing it. Simply put- “Tom gave drawings to Rob and Rob tried to make them into photographs.” The outcome is creative and hilarious. Someone with a sketch book should seriously consider turning it over to me so we can try this!! Read the article here. The next project, by sincerely hana in vancouver, is titled "the switcheroo." Taking nicely styled hipsters, she shoots them side by side, they trade clothes and recreate the others hair-do, and she shoots them again. It's brilliant! With the long haired boys you really have to look. I'm making my boyfriend do it with me tomorrow. He doesn't know this yet.
